Virtual Professional Development Series
More than ever teachers need new ideas for designing meaningful and engaging virtual experiences for students. These workshops offer the best teaching practices from Habla’s three years of building virtual communities of teachers and students.
In every workshop, collaborate with educators from around the world in an inspirational experience demonstrating how technological tools can be used in new ways in the virtual classroom.
Pricing is $55 per one-session workshop and $99 per two-session workshop. You may register for as many workshops as you like, simply indicate which workshop(s) you will attend on the general registration form at the bottom of the page. Group discounts at 30% are available for groups of three or more teachers. All teachers must be listed on the same registration form to receive the group discount. Your space is reserved upon receipt of payment.
Public school teachers are eligible for a 30% discount. Teachers in Latin America are eligible for a 50% discount. If you qualify for one of our discounts, please fill out our scholarship application at the bottom of the page. Do not complete the general registration form.
All Habla Institute Workshops will be held over Zoom. You will receive the Zoom invitation and any additional information about the upcoming workshop on the Monday prior to the first session of the workshop.
Composing Sound and Word Symphonies

Even if you are not a music teacher, you can find ways to integrate sound into your online classrooms. In this workshop you will create layered soundscapes with both words and found objects. Learn how to integrate sound into any subject area by using Soundtrap to create individual and collaborative layered soundscapes.
Mapping Ideas, Insights, and Inspirations

Brainstorming as a classroom community and finding ways to make our students’ thinking visible is an essential part of learning. This workshop will explore a set of virtual tools for sharing our ideas online. Learn three different free and accessible apps to add to your virtual classroom experiences (Padlet, Jamboard and Mentimeter); we will use all three of these platforms to build a collaborative project. All tools are transferable to every grade level and subject-area.

Experience a writing workshop like you’ve never seen before! If you grew up in the 80s you might remember the Choose Your Own Adventure series of books. For many of us these were our first experiences with “hyperlinks.” These books would pave the way for today’s videogame culture that so many of our students are passionate about. Harness the power of hyperlink story writing in this workshop where you will build your own adventure using Google Forms.
